Sithonia Roads

This is a collection of photographs made over the course of two days, with both rides starting from the area between Vourvourou and Sarti. On the first day, I rode south towards Sarti. Along the way, I discovered an incredible gravel route for my bike — a narrow terrace road running above the sea for around 10 km, with the coastline and open water stretching out below. On the second day, I rode north towards Vourvourou, following the main road and passing through the village. Just after Vourvourou, I turned off the main road towards the next village and took a gravel route that continued for around 20 km. The road gradually climbed into the higher, more remote parts of the mountains. From there, the landscape opened onto a series of natural terraces, offering views down towards the bays below. The two rides followed different directions and revealed two very different sides of the same landscape — one moving along the coast towards Sarti, the other turning inland and climbing into the mountains beyond Vourvourou. All the photographs were shot with a Ricoh GR IIIx and processed in Lightroom.
